Samsung Galaxy Buds Live review: release date and price of TWS headphones

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live - new wireless headphones, competing AirPods were officially unveiled on August 5 (almost as stated in the SamMobile report.

Rumors of the new Samsung Galaxy Buds began to mount ahead of Unpacked (it already took place on August 5, 2020). According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Buds Live will go on sale alongside the Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live review

At the end of April, the South Korean company registered Samsung Buds X (I wrote about this earlier in article) in the UK and Europe, suggesting a new version of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus. Apparently "X" was a test name since the model came out under the name Samsung Galaxy Buds Live.

Earlier, a leaked image of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live featured an odd bob design, and as noted by XDA Developers' Max Weinbach, new wireless earbuds were in development at the time.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live review

  • What is the name of the model? Samsung Galaxy Buds Live are wireless earbuds (TWS).
  • When will they be released? The Galaxy Buds Live release date is August 21, 2020.
  • How much will it cost? The price will be higher than that of Galaxy buds plus and will amount to $ 170 (13,990 rubles).

None of the Samsung models have surpassed the Apple AirPods or AirPods Pro in terms of popularity or quality. So why should it happen differently with the new headphone version? Details about the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live (or Galaxy Buds X, as they are often called) are scarce today, but that did not stop me from comparing everything that is already known.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live release date

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live will go on sale on August 21, 2020 in Russia and on August 6 for the whole world.

The new TWS wireless earbuds were unveiled at Unpacked on August 5th. But due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Unpacked was conducted online. In any case, we're not the only ones waiting for the upcoming Galaxy Buds Live release (a tweet from XDA developer Max Weinbach showing off the new Galaxy Buds Plus color).

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live: price

The cost, as mentioned earlier, is 170 dollars or 13,990 rubles.

This figure has been confirmed by SamMobile, which says the buds will cost "under $ 170."

Samsung users can also get a discount, according to a report from SamMobile, which says, "Naturally, you can expect the Galaxy Buds Live in bean form to be offered free or at a discounted price as part of pre-ordering the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2." With the arrival of Apple's new headphones, which should also appear in in the nearest futureSamsung will be able to overtake its biggest competitor - after all, price is the deciding factor for anyone looking to buy new headphones.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live: design

Galaxy Buds Live's design will be radically different from its predecessors. Based on the presentation and source of WinFuture, the new buds are 2.8cm long, so they should fit snugly over most ears. There are no silicone tips, so any noise canceling technology will not be as effective.

Galaxy Buds Live colors:

  • white
  • the black
  • dirty pink

WinFuture says the back of the earbud "fills the top of the ear with the bottom and built-in speakers directed towards the ear canal." This bean-shaped design is not the form factor that we have seen before, so I am very pleased with this innovative solution.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live: fitness tracking

A trademark registration discovered earlier this year revealed some of the features we'll see on the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, including "software to measure distance, speed, time, heart rate changes, activity level, calories burned."

The application also describes "wireless headphones including fitness software". This means they can come with a built-in voice assistant that helps improve running performance by providing real-time advice based on data collected by biometric sensors. If the company launches a fitness headset like this, I think we'll see an IPX4 waterproof rating or higher.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live: feature overview

Both previous Galaxy Buds were decent gadgets, but I would like to see a few improvements.

Noise suppression

I was disappointed that the Galaxy Buds Plus's noise canceling technology was ignored - a decent response was expected on the Apple AirPods Pro. They were bulky in-ear headphonesalthough noise cancellation is increasingly common in TWS headphones, especially after the success of the Sony WF-1000XM3. It's time for Samsung to introduce ANC to the Galaxy headphone lineup.

Improved sound

The Galaxy Buds Plus sound good, but there is work to be done and work on sound quality should be a priority in the Galaxy Buds Live. Samsung can achieve this with support for Hi-Res audio codecs: aptX, aptX Low Latency, or Sony LDAC.

Battery life

The Galaxy Buds Plus boasts much longer battery life than the first Galaxy Buds, but the charging case left a lot to be desired. The earbuds themselves last 11 hours, while the case only gives you an extra 11 hours, resulting in a total battery life of 22 hours.

For comparison, Apple AirPods last 5 hours. And plus an extra 20 hours. I'd like the Galaxy Buds Live charging case to provide longer battery life!
